Estonian Weather Service will attend in the international exercise VOLCEX18
Estonian Weather Service will attend in the international exercise VOLCEX18 that will held on 28 Nov 2018 from 08:00 till 16:00 UTC. The exercise will simulate an eruption of Öraefajökull, Iceland, starting at 02:00 UTC on 25 Nov 2018.
A number of aircraft operators, Air Navigation Service providers, MET Watch Offices, NOTAM Offices, Regulators, Volcanic Ash Advisory Centres, international organisations and seven airports will participate in VOLCEX18.
Aims and objectives of the exercise are:
- to test the effectiveness of the national procedures in accordance with the ICAO plan;
- to test the effectiveness of local (organizational) volcanic ash contingency plans and/or procedures;
- to exercise the origination, dissemination, reception and use of volcanic ash related aeronautical/meteorological information;
- To test cross-border SIGMET coordination etc.
