Starting from January 7, 2025, the Estonian Environmental Agency will begin issuing the LLF forecast (Low Level Forecast), a forecast for low level flights. The first forecast will be issued on 07.01.2025 with a validity period 09 to 17 UTC.
The LLF forecast will be created using the same software as in Denmark, Finland, and Sweden, and the combined forecast will be visualized on the website https://www.northavimet.com/low-level-forecast/.
In parallel with the LLF forecast, we will also continue producing the SIGWX -10000FT chart.
LLF forecast regions
For the LLF forecast, the Tallinn FIR is divided into three regions based on meteorological and geographical conditions: ee1 (western Estonia), ee2 (northern Estonia) and ee3 (southern Estonia). Each region is further divided into smaller fragments, making the LLF forecast even more detailed on a regional level.
The LLF forecast allows predictions of the following parameters from ground level up to FL125:
The forecast is divided into 4 time steps, each covering a two-hour period and is issued three times a day:
The LLF forecast, both in graphical and in text format, will be published on the NAMCON briefing portal at www.northavimet.com.
